Lifetime proud to launch conversion course to PT status
In response to the REPs decision to remove the category of Advanced Fitness Instructor, Lifetime is once again leading the way as the first training provider to deliver a conversion qualification known as Advanced Fitness Instructor (AFI) to Level 3 Personal Trainer (PT). Developed by SkillsActive, AFIs will now be able to progress to PT status in a short amount of time and at very little cost. Once qualified, individuals will operate as REPs accredited PTs.
Ben Jones, Teaching and Curriculum Manager at Lifetime, says: “Lifetime recognises the need to evolve as a training provider in line with the industry’s growth and is therefore offering AFIs a qualification that will support their professional development. The qualification will be delivered via three tailored options, catering for AFIs at all stages in their careers. The full course combines nutrition for physical activity with the conversion of AFI to PT status, while the fast track option allows those already qualified in health screening, fitness testing and nutrition to simply complete an assessment.
“Each option is financially accessible and can be completed through blended learning, providing the most convenient route to up-skill” Ben says.
Launching at a time when many fitness professionals are looking to progress their careers further, alongside the New Year increase in gym memberships, Lifetime’s AFI to PT conversion course is available nationwide throughout December 2010 and January 2011.
