Lifetime Fitness Academy
Emily has always wanted to work in sport and leisure and decided to undertake an Apprenticeship through Lifetime. She wants to eventually teach sports to children and adults with disabilities and she feels that the apprenticeship has increased her confidence. She found her tutor, Rob Harris, extremely supportive.
Her advice to other people with disabilities is to follow their dream. She was bullied at school because she was different and told she was never good at athletics. She recently competed at the National Athletics Championships with Learning Disabilities where she won the Hammer and came second in the Shot Put. Emily has also been selected to represent Team GB for the 2012 Paralympics.
"The Apprenticeship has increased my confidence and given me more experience of sports and what it takes to become a good coach. Follow your dream - if you want to work in sport and leisure just go for it."
