Laura Budd, 23, Bristol
With rising unemployment rates revealing that almost 20 per cent of 18-24 year olds are not in employment, educating or training, Laura Budd, 23 from Bristol knew the importance of furthering her career through gaining qualifications and was keen to do all she could to improve her career prospects. However, after several attempts to enrol in courses at local colleges had failed, she began to feel disheartened; "I felt like giving up, no one would give me a chance," she says.
While working as a Sales Co-Ordinator at an Estate Agents in Bristol, Laura found she could further her career while earning through Lifetime's work based learning course. Excited at the prospect of furthering her career opportunities while doing a job she loved, Laura signed up to the course and has now achieved a Level 2 NVQ in Business and Administration. Having completed the course, Laura now plans to further her studying by continuing onto the Level 3 programme.
"I aim to be the best that I can be in my career and this qualification will help me to do that perfectly" Laura adds.
Laura has been nominated for the Lifetime Learner Achievement Award 2011 which recognises, rewards and celebrates the learning achievements and resulting career and personal successes of inspirational individuals across the country.
