when Lee Parker, 35 was out of work an alcoholic and a heavy smoker he knew he needed to change his life for the better. Having been quite athletic when he was younger he decided he should go to the gym to help him on his road to recovery and give up the drink.
He heard about the Fitness Academy course at an open day at his gym and decided to give it a go - it would almost be like 'killing two birds with one stone' - helping him to stay on the 'straight and narrow' whilst also getting him back into paid employment.
"I thoroughly enjoyed doing the course - it has helped me socially too". Lee went through periods of anxiety and panic attacks while giving up alcohol and was quite nervous about the practical side of the course. However, now complete, his confidence is high and he's done really well with the practical side of the programme.
"Eventually I'd like to specialise in nutrition and weight management as well as GP referral". Lee believes that his own first hand experience will stand him in good stead and enable him to help others.
