This qualification is targeted at staff members who are heavily
involved operationally within the work place. Ideal candidates
would be recreational assistants, lifeguards, multi skilled
receptionists and even some duty managers.
Learners will be able to choose from the
following routes:
Candidates will need to demonstrate competence in areas such as
health and safety, dealing with customers, cleaning and wet or dry
side duties.
Framework Structure
All learners will need to achieve the following four NVQ
mandatory units:
- 203 Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your
organisation
- 213 Support the work of the team and organisation
- 215 Promote health, safety and welfare in active leisure and
recreation
- 216 Support equality and diversity in active leisure and
recreation
And complete four of the following NVQ optional
units:
- 217 Set up, take down and store equipment (Pool and Dry
pathway)
- 219 Resolve customer service problems (Reception pathway
only)
- 13 Maintain the safety of the pool environment and its users
(Pool pathway only)
- 15 Process payments for purchases (Reception pathway only)
- 16 Provide a facility reception service (Reception pathway
only)
- 21 Clean and tidy facility areas (All pathways)
- 22 Deal with substances hazardous to health (Dry pathway
only)
- 28 Check and maintain sport/play surfaces and equipment (Pool
and Dry pathway)
Funded learners will also complete the
following:
- Key Skill Application of Number Level 1
- Key Skill Communication Level 1
- Active IQ Certificate in Sport and Active Leisure Facility
Operations Level 2
- Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
Level 2
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
Programme Length
Apprenticeships typically take between 6-18 months to
complete.
