This level 2 Food and Beverage NVQ Diploma is an ideal programme
which provides those wanting to develop their skills further in the
area of food and drink service an excellent foundation for their
career. Suitable for staff which work in a variety of areas of
front of house service such as serving customers drink and food via
front counter takeaway operation, preparing and serving hot drinks,
taking payments and demonstrating excellent customer care
skills.
Learners will be able to choose one of
the following routes:
- Food Service
- Beverage Service
Throughout the programme learners will gain a better
understanding of food and drink service hygiene, team working and
food safety in the workplace, as well as full silver service, cover
changes or service sequences, service of hot and cold beverages
accompaniments and customer service.
Framework Structure
Learners will need to achieve the following four NVQ
mandatory units:
- 101 Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working
environment
- 104 Work effectively as part of a hospitality team
- 201 Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your
organisation (ICS)
- 204 Maintain food safety when storing, holding and serving
food
Learners following the 'Food Service' route will
complete the following NVQ optional unit:
- 110 Provide a counter and takeaway service
Learners following the 'Beverage Service' route will
complete the following NVQ optional unit:
- 217 Prepare and serve dispensed and instant hot drinks
Learners will also complete the following NVQ optional
units:
- 273 Promote additional services or products to customers
(ICS)
- 275 Maintain customer service through effective handover
(ICS)
- 205 Maintain and deal with payments
- 666 Employment rights and responsibilities in the hospitality,
leisure, travel and tourism sector
Funded learners will also complete the
following:
- Technical Certificate:
- Level 2 Award in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food and
Beverage Service)
- Key Skills (if required):
- Level 1 Application of Number
- Level 1 Communication
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
Programme Length
Apprenticeships typically take between 6-18 months to
complete.
