Framework Structure
All candidates will need to achieve the following nine mandatory units:
- Unit 201 Introduction to communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Unit 202 Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Unit 203 Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Unit 204 Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Unit 205 Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
- Unit 206 The role of the health and social care worker
- Unit 207 Implement person centred approaches in health and social care
- Unit 208 Contribute to health and safety in health and social care
- Unit 209 Handle information in health and social care settingsGeneric Day Pathway candidates will need to complete ten optional units:

- 216 Support independence in the tasks of daily living

- 217 Provide support for journeysDomiciliary Care Pathway candidates will need to complete the following ten optional units:

- 249 Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene

- 222 Support individuals to eat and drink
- 211 Provide support for mobility

- 226 Gain access to the homes of individuals, deal with emergencies and ensure security on departure
- 233 Meet food safety requirements when providing food and drink for individualsAcquired Brain Injury Pathway candidates will need to complete the following ten optional units:

- 256 Understand the impact of Acquired Brain Injury on individuals
- 232 Move and position individuals in accordance with their plan of care
- 222 Support individuals to eat and drink
- 221 Support care plan activities
- 213 Contribute to monitoring the health of individuals affected by health conditions
- 236 Prepare environments and resources for use during healthcare activities
- 230 Support individuals undergoing healthcare activitiesFunded candidates will also need to complete the following:
- Key Skill Application of Number Level 1
- Key Skill Communication Level 1
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Workbook
- Certificate in preparing to work in adult social care Level 2

Programme Length
Apprenticeships typically take between 6-18 months to complete.
