Framework Structure
All candidates will need to achieve the following nine mandatory units:
- 205 Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
- 206 The role of the health and social care worker
- 301 Promote communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- 302 Engage in personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- 303 Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- 304 Principles for implementing duty of care
- 305 Promote person centred approaches in health and social care
- 306 Promote and implement health and safety in health and social care
- 307 Promote good practice in handling information in health and social careCandidates working in Residential care will need to achieve the following seven optional units:

- 383 Support individuals with self-directed supportCandidates working in Alcohol and Drug Misuse will need to achieve the following seven optional units:
- 402 Understand the theories of relationships and social networks
- 619 Understand mental health problems
- 616 Administer medication to individuals and monitor the effects
- 611 Carry out initial assessments to identify and prioritise the needs of substance misusers
- 606 Support individuals who are substance users
- 607 Identify and act upon immediate risk of danger to substance misusers
- 614 Support individuals through detoxification programmes -
Programme Length
Apprenticeships typically take between 6-18 months to complete.
