" Career progression is excellent for apprentices, and over the course of their careers, those with an Apprenticeship earn, on average, £100,000 more than those without. "

Take real steps forward with Lifetime
If you are looking to improve your skills and knowledge and gain industry-recognised qualifications along the way, then an Apprenticeship programme1 could be just for you.
Funded by the government, endorsed by your employer and delivered by Lifetime, Apprenticeship programmes are really easy to take part in, because you get to develop your skills while at work, meaning you don't have to go to college2 and can learn with all the support of your employer - but the skills and the qualification at the end of each programme are yours to keep.
What's in it for me?
You'll earn nationally
recognised qualifications
You'll improve your
skills and knowledge
You'll increase your
opportunity for better pay
You'll set yourself up
to move onto new and better jobs
PLUS
You'll increase your
confidence, feel more motivated and have greater job
satisfaction.
You'll feel valued by
your manager who is 100% behind this!
And who knows, after
that you may well feel inspired to take another step and we want to
cheer you on as you do.
How does it work?
We start with you. We listen to what you want to achieve, chat through which qualifications are right for you and show you how we can help you achieve them.
We then agree the way forward and work with you over a period of 6 to 18 months (depending on the qualification you choose), visiting you at your place of work every three to five weeks to see how you are doing, assess your progress and set you your next activities and goals.
We'll introduce you to our e-portfolio, a simple piece of technology that keeps track of your progress, your paperwork to a minimum and our time together focused on you.
With commitment from you, you'll soon earn nationally recognised qualifications.
It's not about college and books. It's about improving your industry skills and knowledge right there in your workplace.
Your Lifetime Regional Trainer and your manager will support you at every stage.
What does it all involve?
A couple of hours a week of your time with support from your employer and Regional Trainer.
Though an Apprenticeship will involve commitment and a bit of brain power on your part, it's not as academic as you might think. In fact, a large part of the programme involves you demonstrating how great you are at your job.
An Apprenticeship includes the following components:
A minimum of 16 hours per week paid employment 3
A knowledge based element
A competence based element
Transferable or 'Key Skills'
A module on employment rights and responsibilities
Personal learning and thinking skills
Most of the assessment is done as you go, building up what we call an e-portfolio of your work throughout the programme.
An apprenticeship programme can take between 6 and 18 months depending on the qualification that you are looking to achieve, past experience and your employers cooperation.
You'll also learn at your own pace and have the opportunity to improve on your literacy and numeracy skills too - something we call transferable or 'Key Skills'.
All training will be accomplished with the support and instruction of a Lifetime Regional Trainer.
They'll be with you from beginning to end, carrying out initial assessments with you at the very start, right through until completion of your Apprenticeship e-portfolio and the first pat on the back.
Is it difficult?
Learning new skills will always have its challenges - that's all part of the experience, but with commitment and enthusiasm from you and mentoring and support from Lifetime and your employer, you'll gain new qualifications in no time and feel a real sense of achievement when you do!
How does it work?
Next steps
Before you decide on what's right for you, we offer you a 'Next Steps' career advice session where we take 15 minutes or so to find out about what you want to do and what you want to achieve.
Our Regional Trainer will then advise you on what's on offer and how you can make it happen. If you decide that an Apprenticeship programme is for you, and you are eligible for the programme, then we'll sign you up and arrange your first visit.
The first visit
During an initial visit to your work place, your Regional Trainer will chat through your Apprenticeship programme with you and together you'll fill out all the necessary information to get you started.
Ongoing assessments
Once you're off and running, your Lifetime Regional Trainer will visit you regularly in order to keep assessing how you're doing. They'll sign off the work you've done at each point, and outline the next activities for you to complete. As you go, your Regional Trainer will be filling in an Assessment Plan and Review (or APR) to track your progress.
Programme completion
At Lifetime we pride ourselves on having higher than national average completion rates. That means we're one of the best at helping our learners achieve their qualifications. So if you give your programme the time and effort required we'll be there at the end celebrating your success. And if you want to then go on to achieve even more, we'll sit down with you and talk through where you can go next.
And finally
These programmes and our support and encouragement of you are just stepping stones towards you feeling more confident, more motivated and more excited about your potential.
Team up with the best

other funded training
