A vital role supporting visitors of all ages who engage with our team based at Tieve Tara Medical Centre. A great opportunity for a young person looking to develop a role in community support where the activities of all kinds and their positive influence on wellbeing is key. Working as part of a team of workers and volunteers the job holder will provide forms of gentle exercise for those able to join in. There are great outdoor spaces close to Tieve Tara where we aim for this role to develop short walks around Fryston and Airedale green spaces.

Location:
Tieve Tara Medical Practice, Airedale/Fryston, Castleford (with potential activities in surrounding green spaces)

Schedule:
Monday to Thursday - 30 hours per week

About the Role:
We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to join our team as an Airedale Community Activator Coach. This role is based at the Tieve Tara Medical Practice and is a fantastic chance for a young person eager to make a significant impact in community support and wellbeing through physical activity and creative engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement: Actively support visitors of all ages at Tieve Tara Medical Centre, fostering a positive environment and encouraging participation in various activities.
Physical Activity Promotion: Lead and facilitate gentle exercise sessions for participants, utilizing the beautiful outdoor spaces around Fryston and Airedale for short, invigorating walks.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with a dedicated team of workers and volunteers to deliver a comprehensive wellbeing program.

Training and Development: Participate in the Community Activator Coach apprenticeship, gaining valuable qualifications and experience through Lifetime Training and Coach Core, including access to exclusive training and events.

Creative Activities: Engage in arts-based activities, with a particular appreciation for dance as a form of expression and physical activity.

Passionate: A genuine enthusiasm for working within the sport and physical activity sector.

Inspirational: A commitment to motivating others towards greater physical activity and wellbeing.

Creative: An interest in arts and creative activities, with dance being a notable asset.

Eager to Learn: No prior coaching experience is necessary, but a strong willingness to learn and embrace challenges is crucial.

Local Insight: Ideally residing in the Five Towns area due to the location's accessibility.

Additional Information:
The role is based on the eastern side of Wakefield District, near a bus route, with free parking available.
This position requires commuting to Tieve Tara Medical Practice; it is less accessible from the southeast of Wakefield, thus more suited for someone in the Five Towns area.

Any Other Responsibilities:
The Airedale Community Activator Coach may also be asked to undertake other duties as required, contributing to the overall mission of promoting health, wellbeing, and community cohesion.

At Spectrum People you will work towards your L2 Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship Qualification over the course of 12-18 Months.

Desired Skills

This is an apprenticeship programme, designed to help you gain skills and experience ‘on the job.’ We aren’t looking for any previous coaching qualifications or experience but certain personal qualities and characteristics are a must. Details are below. Successful applicants will be assisting and delivering physical activity sessions in the community. Your sessions may be the highlight of their week- so you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic, energetic, committed and a good communicator.

Personal qualities

You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active, but also understanding of how and when an individual wants to engage. You should also have a creative side, Spectrum People runs many arts based activities; enjoyment of dance would be a great asset.

No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, work hard and challenge yourself is essential.

Qualifications required


Missed out on getting your Maths and English GCSE’s? Don’t worry- you can still apply but you will need to complete Functional Skills Level 2 in both before you finish the apprenticeship. Our Learning Coaches can support you with this so don’t let this put you off!
