• This course focuses on the practical use of recognised techniques and could mean the difference between life and death. It is designed for people who want the right skills and knowledge to enable them to give the correct assistance, should the need arise, while carrying out the role of Emergency First Aider.

  Where an organisation's risk of First Aid identifies that there is a requirement for Emergency First aid at Work this course meets the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations.

  Following the course all learners will have the knowledge and skills required to provide Emergency First Aid in an occupational setting in a prompt, safe and effective manner.

    • Course practical content:

      Assess an emergency situation and act appropriately

      Provide First Aid for an unresponsive casualty

      Administer CPR promptly and effectively

      Administer First Aid to a person who is choking

      Administer First Aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding

      Administer First Aid to a patient who is suffering from shock

       

      Course knowledge content:

      Understand the role of the First Aid responder

      Know how to assess an emergency situation and act

      appropriately

      Provide First Aid for an unresponsive casualty

      Recognise the requirement for and administer CPR

      Recognise and administer First Aid to a person who is choking

      Administer First Aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding

      Recognise and manage a casualty who is suffering from shock

      Know how to provide First Aid for minor injuries

      Burns, fractures and childhood diseases.

  Assessment and certification

  To achieve the FAQ Level 2 Award in emergency First Aid at Work the learner must complete a multiple choice exam ( set and written FAQ) as well as a practical assessment / demonstration for each unit.  Both elements must be completed to achieve the qualification.

  Progression from the Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work might be achieved via a range of Qualifications, and setting-specific awards.
