This qualification provides candidates with the knowledge and
understanding of First Aid to provide appropriate care and manage
life threatening conditions, illness and injuries in early years
settings.
It offers the opportunity for those involved in early years
settings to provide quality and effective first aid care. This is
achieved through an understanding of the general duties,
responsibilities and treatment principles of first aid.

Assessment and certification
This is an interactive course lasting 14 hours designed to blend
practical activities with background knowledge. Students are
required to complete practical activities and a workbook which is
independently examined. Upon successful completion certification of
the award below will be made through the awarding body Future
(Awards and Qualifications) and is valid for three years.

To achieve the FAQ level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid
candidates must complete a multiple choice exam (set and written by
FAQ) as well as a practical assessment / demonstration for each
unit. Both units must be achieved to achieve the qualification.

- Unit 1 - test paper 10 questions (a pass mark of 7 is required
to pass the unit)
- Unit 2 - test paper 20 questions (a pass mark of 14 is required
to pass the unit)
Progression Routes
Progression from the Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid could
lead to either voluntary or paid employment in many areas of Health
& Social Care.
Progression from the Level 2 in Paediatric First Aid might be
achieved via a range of Early Years Qualifications,
setting-specific awards and units of the NVQ's in Children's Care,
Learning and Development.
