Our customers and colleagues are at the very heart of what we do. To achieve this we employ exceptional people who are able to demonstrate our leading behaviours – being Bold in what you do, being Flexible and Agile, and always looking to make a Positive Difference.
We are recruiting for a Trainee Stock Controller to support our sales and operations roles. In this role, you will learn how to monitor stock levels in the branch and place orders with suppliers to achieve first time, in full delivery to customers.
You will develop your accuracy, attention to detail and communication skills by overseeing the daily stock checks and maintaining reports.
You will deal with suppliers to track shipments and address any delays, which will develop your telephone, customer service and communication skills. Co-ordinating regularly with the operations manager, you will provide up to date information regarding deliveries and schedules.
You will learn the importance of keeping accurate records when ordering, receiving, checking and moving stock.
By monitoring stock turnover you will understand the importance of keeping stock lines moving and reducing stock holding to avoid slow and obsolete stock. You will also learn about financial reporting by monitoring cost reductions through better purchasing.
You will be working in a busy and varied environment which will enable you to develop team working, flexibility and prioritisation skills.
You will receive health and safety training and on the job training for all aspects of your role.
Live sessions for Induction and Culture and Values are run weekly and all new starters are expected to attend. We also produce a weekly calendar of live webinars, which is open to all employees, and covers topics such as product training and mental health awareness training as well as general sales and customer service skills.
Through our training partner, Lifetime Training, you will be allocated a workplace coach and will receive 4 one-to-one training sessions which will cover the following skills:
