You will learn and develop to be a DC Manager of the future, working tenaciously through a structured training plan over 3 years to gain the knowledge and skills needed to lead a team of up to 500+ colleagues within a Distribution Centre.
Summary
You will inspire to be the best you can be and build excellent working relationships with customers and other teams within WUK to develop a wide network of contacts and to ensure business development opportunities are identified and converted.
OVERVIEW
Year One:
• Learn the basics of how a DC operates getting hands on experience within all areas
• Obtain formal qualifications such as Material Handling Equipment, 6th Sigma
• Complete planned experience within our branch network for Plumb & Parts (Local & Contract)
• Complete necessary training to be competent in job role, including aspects of Team Leader development
• Undertake a 3 month efficiency project
• 12month Project presentation/ work level sign off
Year Two:
• Start Management Role (Warehouse)
• Accountable for a team of colleagues including all aspects of people management
• Understand all aspects of Health & Safety and leading the Safety Management Audit Tool (SMAT) process with the team. Set and maintain a culture of ‘Safety First’
• Spend time with other areas of the business such inventory and transport
• Understand all aspects of Compliance Legal and Safety including internal audits
• Start Level 4 Apprenticeship (approx. 15 months)
• Spend time in different DC Locations across the Country
• Work level sign off
Year Three:
• Complete Level 4 Apprenticeship
• Spend time shadowing DC Manager
• Understand all aspects of workforce planning
• Understand P&L management
• Work Level sign off
You will work towards your Team Leader Supervisor Level 3 Apprenticeship to begin with which will last 15 months, you will then work towards your level 4 Apprenticeship.

Desired skills
Essential:
- Computer literate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable
Desirable:
- Minimum of 3 A’Level's A*-C or equivalent qualification BTEC Level 3 Diploma

- A positive attitude and growth mindset
- Not afraid to get their hands dirty
- Resilience, persistence and a proactive approach
- High attention to detail, quality and standards
Qualifications required
- Full UK Driving license, or soon to pass
Future prospects
3 year Apprenticeship programme with ongoing support and development, leading to a DC Management role.
