London employers get more help to take on apprentices with new enhanced AGE grant
The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), in conjunction with the Greater London Authority and London Enterprise Panel (LEP), has increased theApprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) 16-24 Grant for London employers.
The £1500 available through the existing AGE 16 to 24 Grant has been matched by £1500 from the LEP to create an enhanced Grant of £3000 for the London area. It’s available to 31st December 2014 and they’re offered on a first come first served basis.
Alex Khan, CEO of Lifetime Training, comments:
“Apprentices can form the bedrock of start-up businesses offering them extra support where they need it most and can be used to fill skills gaps. The enhanced grant is great news for London employers and young people. Thanks to the NAS, there’s no better time than now for businesses to take on their first apprentice and start reaping the benefits of enthusiastic and motivated learners.”
Natalie Hushin, Director of Total Recycling Cheshire has recently benefitted from employing an apprentice:
“We currently have two apprentices on our books. It’s been a learning curve for us all but we’ve had some ready, willing and very able youngsters working for us and filling a gap when we needed them most.
“One of the apprentices has done particularly well and will be starting a full time job with us after he completes his qualifications, which we’re ecstatic about. This is exactly the way we wanted the Apprenticeship scheme to work and it’s delivering just as expected. The AGE Grant is a fairly straight forward process and I’d highly recommend working with apprentices to other businesses nation-wide.”
For employers looking to recruit an apprentice for the first time, Lifetime Training offers a free recruitment service and can manage the AGE grant Apprenticeship process.
