Hilton Worldwide and Crieff Hydro named Springboard Award winners
The Springboard UK Awards for Excellence, celebrate and reward inspiring people, organisations and initiatives in the hospitality industry.
Hilton Worldwide’s Chef Apprenticeship Academy, delivered with support from Lifetime Training, was named Best Chef Strategy at the awards evening this month.
The company’s Chef Apprenticeship Academy, part of the nationwide Hilton Worldwide National Apprenticeship Academy, is a bespoke and innovative programme for new and existing chefs, implemented to fill a historic skills gap and to develop a pipeline of talent.
Ben Bengougam, vice president, Human Resources, EMEA at Hilton Worldwide said: “It’s a privilege to be recognised by the industry for our work with Lifetime Training in delivering a unique chef training Academy for apprentices. We developed the Chef Apprenticeship Academy to enhance the Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship qualification requirements. It is particularly innovative as it includes work-based training, personal Development Workshops and inspirational Industry Masterclasses. These elements ensure our trainee chefs understand everything about food, including its provenance, sustainability, trends, costs and how to combine ingredients for the best results.”
This year, to demonstrate its commitment to developing effective leaders, Lifetime Training also supported the Best Management Strategy Award for the employer who best demonstrated an innovative and successful programme to attract and nurture top management talent.
Julie Proctor, Head of Hospitality, Lifetime Training, said: “We are pleased to award Best Management Strategy to Crieff Hydro Hotel. The scheme was highly effective in challenging and nurturing upcoming managers to be effective; therefore improving the overall quality of management within the business.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Hilton Worldwide for being recognised for its commitment to addressing the industry-wide shortage of skilled chefs.”
“After a record number of entries, the judges were set a tough task, not only to go through the sheer volume of entries, but the standard of the entries were of the highest quality,” according to Anne Pierce, Springboard CEO. Adding: “What a fantastic night of celebration to reward people, organisations and projects that work to raise the profile of the hospitality sector and to attract and retain talent to this great industry.’’
