Les Mills UK & Lifetime Training launch NEW FitEx Qualification

A specialist FitEx qualification, which combines the Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification with Les Mills International Instructor certification, has been launched by two industry leading fitness training experts: Les Mills UK and Lifetime Training.

This is a great avenue for fitness enthusiasts looking to become a Les Mills and Fitness Instructor for some of the most in-demand classes across active leisure venues nationwide.

Jean-Ann Marnoch, Instructor Experience Director at Les Mills UK commented:

“The Global popularity of Les Mills Programmes demonstrates the value and opportunities available to Les Mills instructors. Les Mills UK is pleased to be working with Lifetime Training to ensure that Les Mills instructors continue to provide quality driven exercise experiences for the public and employers.”

Cutting edge Les Mills courses are both nationally and internationally recognised and linking them together with industry-leading Lifetime Training courses enriches the learning experience and boosts the return from the training investment.

This programme continues a series of developments from Lifetime Training that has seen the addition of employment skills and opportunities to fitness courses. In a competitive environment and with the growing expectations within work roles it is becoming increasingly important to have a rounded skill-set to offer an employer.

Nigel Wallace, Client Services Director, Lifetime Training commented:

“Fitness Instructors and PTs need more than technical skills and this will become increasingly clear as their roles change and become more demanding in the future. Whilst we build key practical, communication and commercial skills into our certificate and diploma courses, having the FitEx Award including one or two Les Mills Programmes, really enhances an instructor's employment opportunities and value.”

The new qualification comprises Level 2 Anatomy and Physiology, the five key elements of training, as well as the all-important trainer soft skills plus one or two Les Mills Programmes. Courses can be completed within two-three months through a variety of learning methods and tools such as home study, online learning, four days split across classroom and gym, 10 hours Les Mills pre-course choreography learning plus live training.

Those interested in taking the new FitEx qualification have the option to choose from one of seven highly popular Les Mills programmes including BODYBALANCE™, BODYCOMBAT™, BODYPUMP™, BODYVIVE™, CX WORX™ RPM™ and SH’BAM™ in which to qualify.

The Fitness Instructor course includes entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 2 and 20 CPD points. Each Les Mills programme earns Instructors an additional 16 REPs points.

There are no pre-requisites. To find out which route would best suit you, visit or speak to your course advisor. Alternatively, email with ‘FitEx’ in the subject line for an information pack.

A Level 2 Exercise to Music qualification is required for those interested in becoming a Les Mills BODYATTACK™, BODYJAM™ or BODYSTEP™ Instructor. This can be achieved through the Lifetime Les Mills GroupEx Award.
