Traineeships in a Nutshell

Here’s a breakdown:

  • Traineeships are a work experience programme for those aged 16-23 with little or no job experience
  • You, as the employer of a work placement trainee, are not required to pay the trainee during the work placement
  • You get first pick of enthusiastic young people who are looking for employment
  • The trainees work with you, the employer, for six weeks to six months
  • If you decide to keep the trainee on and offer them an Apprenticeship, you could be eligible for a Government grant £1,500 to help cover their salary

Traineeships are funded by the Government

There are only four simple commitments we ask from you:

  • Provide a high quality work placement for the trainee
  • Keep the trainee on programme for six weeks to six months (min. of 2 days per week)
  • Carry out a job interview if a role becomes available or an exit interview if not
  • Provide a reference for the young person upon completion
