Nursery Apprentice Nominated for Learner Awards
Kerry Wildey, 37 from Wiltshire works at the First Steps Nursery as an Assistant Manager after completing her Lifetime Training Children & Young People’s Workforce Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships.
Kerry has been nominated for the Lifetime Learner Achievement Awards 2014, which recognise, reward and celebrate the learning achievements, and resulting career and personal successes, of those who have completed a qualification with Lifetime. They also acknowledge the tutors and regional trainers from Lifetime who helped our learners achieve their goals.
During the last four years, Kerry has completed three Apprenticeships, whilst raising her family, often single handedly. She said:
“I enjoyed working with children and decided I should become qualified to ensure I could support the children by being the best practitioner I could be, helping to provide the children with a safe and secure environment which is both stimulating and challenging, and where they can develop to their full potential.
“I have been dedicated, hardworking and remained focused on my training even when my husband was deployed to Afghanistan for six months. My training means I am now an essential asset to the nursery team I work in. Learning has transformed me from a shy and reserved individual into a confident practitioner with a positive outlook on life. I remain motivated and enthusiastic to continue with my professional development and reach my full potential.”
Kerry is currently studying to gain a Leadership and Management qualification and someday hopes to run her own nursery setting.
Shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend a special awards ceremony in London on Wednesday 21st May.
