Learner Awards: The Final Countdown

This week Lifetime Training announced the finalists of the Lifetime Learner Achievement Awards. Now in their third year, the awards are designed to recognise, reward and celebrate the personal successes and resulting career development of our learners. The Awards will be presented at a Parliamentary Reception on Wednesday 21st May 2014.

From more than 20,000 people who have trained with Lifetime Training this year, just five prestigious #LearnerAwards will be awarded including Active Leisure Apprentice of the Year, Hospitality Apprentice of the Year, Health & Social Care Apprentice of the Year, Children & Young People Apprentice of the Year, and Trainee of the Year. For the first time, awards will also be presented to an Apprentice Champion, a person who promotes Apprenticeships within their business, as well as a Matt Punsheon Award for an exceptional Lifetime Training tutor or regional trainer who has gone above and beyond to help our learners achieve and exceed their goals.

Alex Khan, CEO of Lifetime Training, commented:

“The Lifetime Learner Achievement Awards are held in high esteem both in the business and industry-wide. It has become a key event for us; a time to showcase the efforts of everyone involved in the learning process, from the regional trainers and tutors, to our partners. Most importantly it presents an opportunity to share the learners’ story; those who remain central to everything we do.”

The event takes place on 21st May, and will once again comprise a judging panel of industry experts representing the different sectors. They will include Head Judge ukactive’s CEO Dave Stalker (Active Leisure), Chief Executive of Springboard UK Anne Pierce (Traineeships), Head of Professional Standards at People 1st Annette Allmark (Hospitality), Independent Chair of the Skills for Care Board David Croisdale-Appleby (Health & Social Care), HR Director at the Childbase Partnership Helen Bass (Children & Young People).

Dave Stalker, ukactive’s CEO and Head Judge, added:

“The judges will be looking for inspirational learner journeys. I’m particularly interested in finalists who can demonstrate the positive impact of their training throughout their career and personal life and show how their learning contributes to their aims and ambitions.”

The 2012 winner, Katie Shuttleworth, a Mum of five, started out as a part-time cleaner with no qualifications and found a new lease of life with the help of Lifetime Training. She’s now a full-time Manager at the Ladies Workout Express (LWE) gym in Harrogate and since her award win has been researching new business ideas. Her advice for finalists is: “Anything in life is possible if you apply yourself, accept the support of others and believe.”
