The Early Years Agenda: You’re Invited

We’ll be celebrating National Apprenticeship Week (9-13th March) next month with the launch of three FREE Early Years sector events, especially for industry employers, and hosted by Lifetime Training.

Three key speakers have been lined up including Lisa Hibbard, National Business Development Manager, Lifetime Awarding who will be ‘Explaining the Early Years Educator’ programme, David Wright, Owner of Paint Pots Nurseries in Southampton, who will be talking to delegates about ‘Men in Early Years’ and Kate Peach, Managing Director of Peacharno Consulting, who will be providing advice and guidance on how to ‘Grow your Childcare Business’.

“Children benefit from the input of both men and women. This isn’t new news. So, why are we still battling with such an outdated education system? One that values primary and secondary education above that of early years in salary and funding terms. This results in a smaller pool of talent – Just 2% of roles taken in the sector are occupied by men and who blames them when they can get a better salary for the same training in primary schools? – and a restricted range of experiences for young children.

“At Lifetime’s Early Years Agenda events I’ll be looking at why there is a discrepancy in numbers between the male/female early years professional, what the issues are surrounding men in early years and the potential benefits of having a more gender balanced workforce, and we will debate how we can encourage more talent into the sector.”

David Wright, Owner - Paint Pots Nurseries, Southampton
