Why Matt Became an Apprentice...
"I wanted to become a Chef growing up, the idea of cooking food for others to enjoy and experimenting with recipes in a professional kitchen was always appealing to me. I saw the advert for the Apprentice Chef position at The Beagle, Ipswich, and applied. I was called and invited for an interview and had a trial shift.
Lifetime called me within two days of my trial shift and offered me the position – I was so happy! I started my first shift three-days later.
I love the fast-paced environment of the kitchen and enjoy working as part of tight-knit team! I have received a lot of support towards my training and development from different members of the Kitchen team. My main responsibilities are to ensure the food goes out on time and is well presented. The biggest challenge for me has been adjusting to the hours! Its hard work in a kitchen, but it’s worth it! I especially enjoy working on starters as I am fully-trained in that area.
I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to anyone – it’s a great opportunity to start building your skills!"
