If you’re mates with a beauty therapist, you’ll know they always look on point. Glowing skin, perfect brows, the lot – all the time. How do they do it? Well, it’s easier than you think. We’ve quizzed beauty experts to uncover their routines and unlock their secrets…

1: Time to tone

Toner is often the first product to be dropped from the classic ‘cleanse, tone, moisturise’ routine – perhaps because it’s not obvious what using it is actually achieving. But we can confirm it is, in fact, dead useful: toner’s a great way to remove any impurities remaining after your cleanse. Plus, it restores your skin’s pH balance. Get on it!

2: Exfoliate!

This is essential because, if you don’t exfoliate, you’ll just be applying moisturiser to a layer of dead skin cells. So treat yourself to an at-home exfoliation once a week to keep things in check.

3: Stick to the plan

Routine is key for top-notch skin. That means every morning – and every night – it’s essential to follow through on your skincare plans. In true beauty therapist fashion, cleanse, tone, apply eye gel then moisturise – with SPF in the mornings. Seal in the moisture with hydrating spray.

4: Go for H2O

There’s dry skin – then there’s dehydrated skin. It’s easy to confuse one for the other, and cause more problems in trying to fix it. Dehydrated skin produces more oil than usual, which can lead to the use of harsh, oil-removing products. The problem is, this strips the skin of all moisture and leads to yet more oil, leaving you in a downward spiral or dryness. Boo! So save yourself the hassle and hydrate your skin from within – as well as using moisturiser, drink plenty of water. It’ll leaving your skin glowing!

5: Keep it simple

Not only are they easier to remember, but simple routines are often the most effective. Stick to products with great ingredients that suit your skin, use them routinely and you’re likely to see results.

6: Think bigger

Remember: skincare goes beyond what you put on your skin. Your complexion is delicate, so treat it with care by eating a balanced diet, exercising and making sure you get plenty of beauty sleep.
