Mirror, mirror on the wall, what’s the biggest beauty trend of them all?

What treats and trends are in store for 2017? That’s the question we’ve been asking our expert team of tutors at Lifetime Beauty. As ever there’s everything from the weird to wonderful and, of course, wellness but here are our hot ‘spots’ for the year ahead:

For beauty, Microblading is still a must have and with the chance to have natural looking brows for up to twelve or even eighteen months, quite frankly, why wouldn’t you? This semi-permanent make-up technique is going nowhere anytime soon.

Skincare ingredients continue to be big news in 2017. Top of the list is cannabis moisturiser, apparently an acne and eczema-prone skin booster! Trend forecasting consultancy The Future Laboratory has also highlighted Tallow or rendered fat from grass fed cows, and a ‘miracle’ ingredient neurophroline which ‘blocks cortisol production and boost endorphin release, improving skin tonality and luminosity’. Who knew?

According to LS:N Global, waterless beauty will come to the fore, as brands will be considering their ecological footprint and considering how to limit water usage in their products.

Beauty industry trend spotter, The Beauty Shortlist, is also focused on green (not the hot new Pantone colour) and cruelty-free beauty as a ‘prerequisite’, with animal testing a complete no-no.

Good news is also on hand for those of us who want to know more about the cost of skincare. A top trend for 2017 is ‘Hyper-transparency: a new wave of beauty brands that are striving to offer increasingly educated consumers complete cost transparency of their beauty regime’. LS:N Global thinks that Beauty Pie has it covered with its ‘subscription service that enables consumers to buy products at cost price.’

Detox is a must in January after all the festive excess so it’s no surprise that Charcoal also remains hot to trot. Activated charcoal is the must-have ingredient for skin in need of a deep cleanse. Check out some of the fabulous masks on offer, including this gem from Your Salon Store.
For nails, whilst furry may be on the way out, chrome pigments and powders are here to stay! Creating a super high monochrome shine and a reflective finish, Gelish's All That Jazz pigment is the business.

But remember, if all else fails you can always follow the Global Wellness Summit’s predictions and opt for saunas, silence and beauty from within!
