Hospitality apprenticeship success story: Gemma Harris

Starting as bar staff, Gemma has dreams of running her own business. She has just completed her 'L2 Team Leader', moving to L3 in August; and has now got her 'personal licence'. She has excelled throughout the course, and has also just finished her 'first relief in charge of the business'. Additionally she has promoted Marston's through our courses, linking to Christmas plans and achieving national recognition for the Marston's “war room” work, creating plans and executing Christmas. She has put on festivals, inducted staff, and helped the staff through 3 major manager changes. Gemma has used the course to counteract a new Toby Carvery opening directly opposite her pub, and is always positive and vibrant.
Gemma has not only completed the two courses to an astonishingly high level; she has also expanded her Maths and English to L2, and managed to use the team meeting sections to really empathise and help the team. She has achieved this by creating new rules, guidance and links with the staff through the manager changes - a feat made even more remarkable and inspiring as she has also had a baby during the course without missing a visit!
She has been noted for her ability to build, save, and generate new ideas. Gemma is a rock in-house both for the pub, Lifetime and her area manager.
