Alex Khan in New Year’s Honours List

Lifetime Training, the UK’s leading provider of apprenticeships, is proud to announce that Alex Khan, our CEO, has been awarded an MBE in the 2018 New Year’s Honours list.

The prestigious Queen’s honour award was made in recognition of Alex’s unrelenting commitment to apprenticeship education and a dedication to supporting individuals succeed in their careers through apprenticeship opportunities.

Beginning his own career as an apprentice, Alex has an unrivalled view of life as an apprentice and what this means in a practical sense. Working in the independent Training Provider sector for over 18 years, Alex has gained a wealth of experience which he uses to steer the government agenda in an aim to keep apprenticeships at the forefront of education and business policy. Alex works relentlessly and is passionate about supporting employers to understand the huge benefits that come from investing in their work-forces through apprenticeship programmes.

Mark Dawe, Chief Executive at Association of Employment and Learning Providers, said;

“Alex Khan’s dealings with his employer customers have provided valuable insight on the apprenticeship reforms and his direct input with government officials has helped to demonstrate how employer engagement and high quality apprenticeships can be delivered across the country. His leadership has always been associated with good quality training providers and his key contribution to AELP is oversight of our positions in major policy areas to which he brings a passion for championing social mobility among young people.”

Speaking about his award, Alex said;

“I am both surprised and honoured to receive such prestigious recognition. The whole of the Lifetime Training team work with passion, enthusiasm and dedication every day to support apprentices, so this recognition is as much my teams as it is mine. The profile of the apprenticeship brand has never been stronger and it is a joy and privilege to support an industry whose sole purpose is to improve the lives of its employees through apprenticeship training. The sector has been through radical change in the recent months, and more and more employers are beginning to see the benefits of apprenticeship training, which will in turn create more opportunities for people of all ages to engage in learning activities, and ultimately provide tangible benefit to business and the UK economy.”

Alex looks forward to continuing to raise the profile of apprenticeships throughout the UK, and hopes this award will inspire more employers to introduce apprenticeships in 2018.
