Apprenticeship success story: Ana, Towcester Centre for Leisure
"My name is Ana, and I have recently completed my apprenticeship in Business Administration L2 at Towcester Centre for Leisure.
After I had finished college I wanted to extend my business knowledge in a practical way, which is why the apprenticeship route appealed to me . By taking this option I have been able to 'Learn on the job', as well as having the opportunity to gain further relevant qualifications.
I applied for the role at TCFL, and was successful. I have used the centre before, and was drawn to the leisure industry due to the diverse nature of the business. I was not wrong, no two days are the same.
On my first day I was extremely nervous, but I soon settled in. To begin with it was a bit overwhelming as there was alot of new information to take on board, but it was also exciting and inspiring. Over my time as an apprentice I have further developed my personal skill base, and most importantly my confidence has grown incredibly. I am able to self organise and prioritise and have learnt to be an effective member of a team. I have gained experience now in working within a busy commercial environment and have a greater understanding of the operations of a business.
I have been extremely lucky, and have now been offered a permanent role within the leisure centre. In my role I will be responsible for helping to grow the aquatics programme, and assist the front of house team with the customer journey. I feel very much part of the team at Towcester and can put my theoretical NVQ learning into practise.
Without a doubt I would recommend the apprenticeship programme. it has given me confidence, business awareness, new skills, a new qualification and a role with career progression."
