Course details

This qualification is designed to be flexible so you can fit learning around your work schedule and life.

You can choose what and when you learn through our 'MyLifetime' online learning site, and blend this as much or as little support as you need including workplace observations and visits from your expert Lifetime trainer.

Online

Online learning will be completed through the MyLifetime online learning community, where you can access your workbooks and online resources. MyLifetime also provides instant access to expert tutors and allows you to interact with other learners. To support your journey, there are a range of materials available, including; videos, webinars, podcasts and other dynamic learning resources. 

Online Support

Online support will be provided via our MyLifetime online learning community. Here you will have access to your assessment workbooks, can ask expert tutors questions and interact with other learners. There is also a range of engaging learning materials that have been designed to support your learning journey, with fresh content uploaded regularly. 

Regional Trainer Work-Based Support

You will have face-to-face visits from your trainer at key points throughout your course to keep you motivated and supported. Our formal and informal 1-2-1 sessions via phone or Skype will coach you to success.

Alongside this you will have access to friendly help and assistance through our learner helpline so you can get answers quickly if your tutor isn’t available.

This unit introduces the central importance of communication in such settings, and ways to overcome barriers to meet individual needs and preferences in communication.

Engage in personal development

This unit introduces the concepts of personal development and reflective practice which are fundamental to such settings, and ways to implement these.

Promote equality and inclusion

This unit introduces the concepts of equality, diversity and inclusion which are fundamental to such settings.

Principles for implementing duty of care

This unit introduces ways to address the dilemmas, conflicts or complaints that may arise where there is a duty of care.

Principles of safeguarding and protection

This unit introduces the important area of safeguarding individuals from abuse. It identifies different types of abuse and the signs and symptoms that might indicate abuse is occurring. It considers when individuals might be particularly vulnerable to abuse and what a learner must do if abuse is suspected or alleged.

The role of the health and social care worker

This unit outlines the knowledge and skills required to understand the nature of working relationships, working in ways that are agreed with the employer and working in partnership with others.

Promote person centred approaches

This unit provides the learner with the knowledge and skills required to implement and promote person centred approaches.

Promote and implement health and safety

This unit provides the learner with the knowledge and skills required to promote and implement health and safety in their work setting.

Promote good practice in handling information

Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care settings

If your work includes assessment, medication administration, tissue viability risk assessments, hygiene and daily skills this pathway could be for you.

Nursing Home Pathway

If your work includes supporting communication, negotiating environments and assessment, this pathway could be for you.

Domiciliary Care Pathway

If your work includes supporting positive risk taking, supporting the use of medication and access to services and facilities then this pathway could be for you.

Supported Living Pathway

If your work includes supporting access to services and facilities, self directed support and developing skills for everyday life then this pathway could be for you.

Dementia Care Pathway

If your work includes enabling interaction for people with dementia, ensuring rights and choices are balanced by risk and support basic needs such as nutrition for people with dementia then this pathway could be for you.

Learning Disabilities Pathway

If your work includes supporting people with learning disabilities then this pathway could be for you.

Mental Health Care Pathway

If your work includes supporting people with learning disabilities then this pathway could be for you.
