Join Changing Lives in Essex as a Sports Coach Apprentice, where you'll assist in delivering sports coaching sessions in schools, half-term camps, and community projects. Working alongside experienced coaches, you'll engage participants, set up equipment, and support administrative tasks while promoting teamwork and physical well-being. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop coaching skills, contribute to community initiatives, and make a positive impact on the lives of children and community members.

Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people. As a result of our ongoing expansion, we are now looking to launch a brand-new programme in Essex!

At Changing Lives you will be working towards a Level 2 Community Activator Qualification over the course of 15 months.

Changing Lives is seeking a dedicated and passionate Sports Coach Apprentice to join our team in Essex. As a Sports Coach Apprentice, you will work closely with experienced coaches and educators to deliver high-quality sports coaching sessions in various settings, including schools, half-term camps, and community projects. Your role will involve assisting in the planning and execution of coaching sessions, fostering positive relationships with participants, and promoting the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical well-being.

Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and delivering sports coaching sessions in schools, half-term camps, and community projects.
Support experienced coaches in providing engaging and inclusive activities that cater to the needs and interests of participants.
Help organise and set up equipment for coaching sessions, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Actively engage with participants, providing encouragement, guidance, and constructive feedback to support their skill development and enjoyment of sports.
Assist in the administration and record-keeping tasks related to coaching sessions, including participant registrations and feedback collection.
Contribute to the promotion and marketing of Changing Lives' sports programs and community initiatives.
Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge of sports-related practices.
Assist with community outreach efforts and events at Changing Lives' community hubs, promoting the organisations mission and values.

Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for sports and a genuine interest in working with children, young people, and community members.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, taking direction from experienced coaches and contributing positively to group dynamics.
Willingness to learn and develop coaching skills, including adaptability to different coaching environments and age groups.
Basic knowledge of sports coaching principles and techniques (previous coaching experience is an advantage but not required).
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate coaching sessions and community events.

Qualifications required

No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, develop and challenge yourself is essential.
Missed out on getting your Maths and English GCSE’s? Don’t worry- you can still apply but you will need to complete Functional Skills Level 2 before you finish the apprenticeship. Our Learning Coaches can support you with this so don’t let this put you off!

Future prospects

At the end of the apprenticeship we endeavour to offer a full time position within our organisation such as Primary School PE Coach, Community Sports Coach, Sports coach and Admin Assistant
