Fuse Youth Project
A youth club worker will be expected to guide and support young people in their personal and social development. Encouraging them to develop skills at the youth club that can help them in society. Skills which they can retain for a lifetime. While working for FUSE you will be working with children and young people aged 8 - 16 years and over across all sites which may include some outreach and offsite trips.

At The Fuse Project you will work towards your L2 Community Activator Coach Qualification over the course of 12-18 Months.

Responsibilities:
Assess and address the needs of young people, planning and delivering programs on health, fitness, substance abuse, violence, relationships, and bullying.
Organise and facilitate various activities including arts based, community/environmental projects, outdoor education, and sports.
Provide support to young people in different settings, including outreach work and offsite trips.
Mentor and coach individuals to foster social inclusion.
Collaborate with professionals from other organisations supporting young people.
Engage with parents and community groups to advocate for improved provision.
Set up and pack down equipment for sessions.
Complete session plans and necessary paperwork.
Assist young people with forms and signings.
Play games to build relationships and engagement.
Provide information and support for young people to realise their goals and work effectively in groups.
Address oppressive behaviour and promote respect and confidentiality.
Encourage young people to broaden their horizons and be active citizens.
Support young people in understanding risk and taking action on key issues in their lives.

Additional Employability Support:
- Monthly communication with the youth team.
- Daily briefs before each session.

Desired Skills

● Basic cooking and art and crafts skills ● Confident communication with young people. ● Understanding of different cultures, religions, and UK minority groups. ● Creativity in sports and play. ● Understanding of young people's health and wellbeing needs. ● IT skills in Microsoft and Powerpoint

Personal qualities


You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active.

No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, work hard and challenge yourself is essential.

Qualifications required


Missed out on getting your Maths and English GCSE’s? Don’t worry- you can still apply but you will need to complete Functional Skills Level 2 before you finish the apprenticeship. Our Learning Coaches can support you with this so don’t let this put you off!
