We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to work with older people in community settings and care settings by facilitating inclusive group activities that are both physically and mentally stimulating, as well as games combined with sporting reminiscence.
You will also be connecting with referral and volunteer organisations in the community to help recruit volunteers and to facilitate beneficiary referrals into Sporting Memories Clubs and activities and supporting individual member referrals and volunteers respectively through their well-being and volunteering journeys.

You will be responsible for planning, leading, and delivering inclusive and engaging group sessions that promote both physical and mental wellbeing. These sessions will incorporate seated physical activities, interactive games, and sporting reminiscence to create a welcoming and stimulating environment for participants of all abilities.

A key part of your role will involve building and maintaining strong relationships with community referral partners and volunteer organisations. This will help encourage new members to join Sporting Memories Clubs and attract volunteers who are passionate about supporting others.

You’ll provide ongoing support to both individual members and volunteers throughout their wellbeing and volunteering journeys, ensuring their experiences are positive, meaningful, and fulfilling.

Your roles and responsibilities will include:

Plan, lead and deliver weekly Sporting Memories Club sessions, incorporating seated physical activities, memory games, and sports-based conversation.
Prepare resources and monitor the impact of activities, contributing to evaluation reports as needed.
Build and maintain relationships with community referral partners and local organisations to support member and volunteer recruitment.
Provide informal support to individual participants, helping to promote their wellbeing, engagement and inclusion.
Contribute to creating a safe, accessible and dementia-aware environment at all times.
Promote the programme in the local community and support wider engagement across Hamara’s services.
Collaborate with other Hamara projects and team members where appropriate to support outreach, events, and health-focused activities.

At Hamara Healthy Living Centre you will be working towards the Community Sport and Health Officer Level 3 apprenticeship, alongside your daily roles and responsibilities, over the duration of 15 months.
