Summary
We are recruiting for a Production Operative to join our production team. You will receive a good grounding in health and safety and company standards and procedures and you will be expected to adhere to them at all times. You will be trained in the safe and environmentally friendly operation of the machinery and equipment to produce products to meet customer requirements.
You will be responsible for ensuring that deviations from standards, quality issues and potential problems are reported to a supervisor which will develop your observation skills and confidence.
You will learn the importance of the correct PPE and a clean and tidy working environment.
You will be able to practice your resourcefulness and problem solving skills as you will be encouraged to actively participate in improvement activities.
You will be working with others so will develop your team working skills and you will be multi-skilled being involved in all aspects of production within your work area.
You will develop good time keeping skills as factory production runs to tight deadlines.
You will be working in a busy and varied environment which will enable you to develop your team working and prioritisation skills.

Qualifications required
To be eligible for the Kickstart programme you will need to be:
• Referred by your Jobcentre Work Coach
• Aged 16-24
• Unemployed and have been in receipt of Universal Credit for 6 months or more
• Be available to work for 25+ hours per week
• Be able to undertake a 6-month training programme
Future prospects
The Kickstart Scheme as part of the Governments Plan for Jobs is to support people to develop new skills and to help them into sustained employment. With your new skills, you will be equipped to look for long-term employment.
Training to be delivered
You will receive health and safety training and on the job training for all aspects of your role. Live sessions for Induction and Culture and Values are run weekly and all new starters are expected to attend. We also produce a weekly calendar of live webinars, which is open to all employees, and covers topics such as product training and mental health awareness training as well as other skills relevant to the job role.
Through the training partnership between SIG Plc and Lifetime Training, you will be allocated a workplace coach and will receive employability training to cover the following:
• Preparing for work
• Becoming the perfect candidate
• Personal development
• Building relationships
• CV development
• Career planning
• Interview skills
At the end of the work placement, you will have the chance to complete a mock interview and will receive detailed feedback on your performance.
