How long have you been working at Iceland and why did you start?
I started working for Iceland in 2011 at 16 as my first job
What apprenticeship are you studying?
Level 4 store manager
Have you completed any apprenticeships or training courses before?
No
What are you most looking forward to about the apprenticeship/training/completing?
Being able to showcase to my peers what I have learnt and being able to put them into practice
What has surprised you most about the apprenticeship so far?
How straightforward it has been, I expected it to be a lot harder.
What have you enjoyed? (Progression? Responsibility? Fuse?)
The responsibility given to me and being able to show my colleagues what I have learnt.
How will it help you get on in work and with your professional development?
It will help me understand why things are done the way they are done and how it impacts the store and customers
What do you enjoy most about working at Iceland?
The people. They make work enjoyable
Why did you choose an apprenticeship route over others?
Because it gives me an advantage that others may not have when it comes to learning new ways of working.
What’s the best thing you have learned and how has this helped you in your job role?
The best thing I have learnt so far is business strategies and learning what makes customers more inclined to buy items and how to merchandise correctly.
